Every Woman is a Warrior
So today, I’m going to talk about why women everywhere are warriors. Before I start off, I read this beautiful saying,
“I think women are foolish to pretend they are equal to men. They are far superior and always have been. Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she will give you a baby. If you give her a house, she will give you a home. If you give her groceries, she will give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she will give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of shit.” – William Golding.
Man, how true this is. But this is also the most positive statement I have ever read about a woman. I have seen many men talk about women empowerment and women being more than men before. But this is so accurate and hit so close to the heart. Women do, do a lot. We do cook, we do give birth, we do clean, we do make the house a home and we do give our heart. Of course, I’m not saying that men are anything less, but just for doing the laundry for a day (from the washer to the dryer) they need recognition and applause.
I love reading about women warriors – the Valkyrie and the Amazons. Really wish those tribes existed in real life, I would have signed up in my teenage days. I love watching Marvel movies and people keep asking me why and this is why – Captain America needs Natasha Romanoff to save him (despite his yummmm abs), Tony Stark needs Pepper Potts to handle his drama, Leopold Fitz needs Jemma Simmons to be perfect and Phil Coulson needs Melinda May to kick ass. These are just a few of the many examples from the Marvel Universe (I’m still disappointed that DC was the first to come up with a female warrior movie).
I see Wonder Women and see men talking about how ‘sexy’ her attire is. Sexy my ass. She was 5 months pregnant when she had to reshoot portions of the movie. I would like a few guys to walk a mile with the common cold. I would like to see a man try to feed a biting baby from his useless nipples. Every mother is a goddess and a warrior. I’ve never seen anyone in my family who has raised both their boy child and girl child equally. They either love one of them way too much and one way too less. Coming from a family of both girls, my dad always told us one thing – YOU ARE A GIRL. This made me fight even more. This made me realize that because I’m a girl I have to fight even more. No one was going to come save me, in fact, I’m going to go run and save someone.
Hey you, yes you, you beautiful woman – YOU ARE A WARRIOR.
Not just because I’m saying it – but because you are.
The breastfeeding mum there who’s getting the stink eye – YOU ARE A WARRIOR. Screw everyone else.
The mum who’s feeding her kids formula – YOU ARE A WARRIOR. Your kids are fed.
The mum who’s staying at home – YOU ARE A WARRIOR. You have sacrificed so much for your family.
The mum who’s working – YOU ARE A WARRIOR. You have sacrificed so much to balance both.
To the woman who doesn’t want to get married- YOU ARE A WARRIOR. Way to fight the patriarchy.
To the woman who doesn’t want to have kids – YOU ARE A WARRIOR. You can see the world.
To the woman who wants to adopt – YOU ARE A WARRIOR. You are an angel for a poor kid.
To the woman who cannot cook – YOU ARE A WARRIOR. Let the man cook for you once.
To every damn woman in the world – YOU ARE A BLOODY WARRIOR. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise. If anyone doesn’t agree with you send them my way and I’ll show them why we are warriors.
Love,
Po
